San Diego Comic-Con International 2006

Got back yesterday. Con was magical. It is vury, vury hot here at home. My legs are still quite sore from all the crazy antics in San Diego.
We missed a few of the people we'd wanted to see, but I saw more people than I thought I would.
There were so many folks there from all over the world. It was big the last time I went (4-5 years ago), but it's gotten even bigger. Someday the San Diego Convention Center will explode. Of this I am sure.
The hotel was really nice, but certain aspects of it were a little stressful since it was so crowded. The trip went very well overall, especially considering it was the first time Erin and I had gone on a big trip without parents around.
It's too hot and I'm too tired to write up a full report, so I'll post pictures instead.

TrekkerPuppy watching TV in our hotel room!

Yay Sora!! He was very nice and friendly.

Peoples playing a demo of the new Phoenix game.

I wanted to sign the wall, but I couldn't find my sharpie in time.

I love this poster. We got a little booklet version of it.

Craaazy crowd.

The Adult Swim booth was by far my favorite. It changed every day. This was the tacky Thursday version.

This was the view from our balcony at night.

Our hotel was pretty far from the convention center, so we had to take the trolley to get there each day.

Erin got signatures/sketches done all over her backpack. At least a third of them were by artists she'd barely heard of.

This woman was selling beanie baby bears that she'd painted on.

See, it's Jack! She had a lot of Disney related portraits.

Nintendo booth! You could download temporary demos for soon-to-be-released games.

Vic Mignogna, the voice of Ed on Fullmetal Alchemist. I wanted to get his signature, but the line was always so long. He is a pretty man.

Sci-Fi Channel booth!

Adult Swim booth on Friday. Metalocalypse theme.

Panel with Craig McCracken and the cast of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

Tim & Eric! (creators of Tom Goes to the Mayor)
Erin told Tim that I wrote a book, and Tim said he wanted to read it, which made me feel soo warm and fuzzy inside even though I know he was just being friendly. We briefly discussed hoagies and sandwiches with Eric, and they invited us to Tomicon, which was a Tom Goes To The Mayor fan get-together on Saturday. We tried to go, but couldn't find where it was being held in time. We'll go next year, though, if they have it again.

Seth Green and Matt Senreich! (creators of Robot Chicken)

Roman Dirge

Hall H, before the 300 panel.

Frank Miller and Gerry Butler. Do you know how awesome it was to see them teasing each other?? Highly awesome.

Actor David Wenham and director Zach Snyder.

Adult Swim booth on Saturday. Aquateen theme. Venture Bros. creators signing.

Two of my favorite comic book artists, Tony Millionaire (of Maakies fame) and Daniel Clowes (creator of Ghost World and Art School Confidential).

My favorite artist, Gary Baseman.

Executive producer of The 4400. We sat in on the 4400 panel because it was right before the Adult Swim panel.

The creators of Minoriteam.

Tim & Eric + Dave Willis (Aquateens, Squidbillies) & Jim Fortier (Squidbillies).

Tim was the Incredible Hulk. The audience was led in singing the Hulk theme song. It was pure magic deliciousness.

The second panel, starting with Seth & Matt.

The creators of Moral Orel. They were quite drunk and jackassy, which would've been more annoying in any other circumstance but in this instance just made everything more exciting.

Tommy Blacha (Metalocalypse) & Brendon Small (Home Movies, Metalocalypse).

Jackson Publick & Doc Hammer (Venture Bros). They are so cute in their own fun way that I almost exploded.

Showing off the Moral Orel underwear that someone threw at the panel. It says "Amen!" on the back.

The Saturday crowd was by far the biggest I've seen there.

I felt like a cow being herded out.

Well, we didn't get to see everything we wanted, but I think we're definitely going to try to go back next year.
I'll write more in the future when I'm more alert and it's not so fuckin' hot.
