Eep

Lots of stuff has been happening!
School started on Monday, I cut my hair, I re-watched the entirety of Buffy, had a week of adventures and I'm getting my tattoo tomorrow.
I also found out that there are life drawing sessions run by the animation club at my school, so I went last week and it was awesome. Three dollars to draw naked people for three hours is a fabulous deal, and all the people there are so talented and have such varied styles. I'm hoping to go at least once a week.

I must also profess my love of Daiso, the Japanese dollar store (essentially). I love things that are tiny and colorful and shiny and wacky because inside I am pretty much a child, so Daiso is like a magical wonderland of crap. Here's a picture of me and Reggie getting acquainted with my favorite purchase, Twinkle McStarson.

I've also been think more and more about Nano. The idea I'm working with is something I came up with a couple of years ago, and I'm pretty excited about it. The problem is that it's less fantastical and requires a lot more research, and it's also the first story that doesn't take place in the Funnily Enough setting (though I'm not dropping that universe any time soon). It's more unfamiliar than anything I've done before, but I figure that if I could get through a story as difficult and convoluted as last year's, I can definitely do this.

Oh gosh, I'm starting to get nervous about tomorrow. I hope it turns out well!

It turned out very well! That is, if were talking about the same thing. If were not, well, then... boo.

Yup! And thanks, I'm really happy with it. I'll be even happier if it heals well.

I sort of started rewatching Buffy again too! Well, watched the first half-a-season. Watching "Merlin" has put me in the mood for Giles.

Pictures pictures pictures! please : )

Mmmmmm...Giles. I totally didn't remember how sexy he is. Then again, the height of my Buffy obsession was before I realized I had a thing for older guys.

I'll post pictures soon, but it hasn't stopped peeling yet.

Giles was the whole draw of the show for me! I was crushed when he disappeared in season 6 and then appeared only sporadically in season 7. He's still just as hot in Merlin as Uther Pendragon. He looks more paunchy, but had one scene with his shirt off where you can see he's got a bit of muscle, but that old man middle is really hard to get rid of : )

I thought of you last night -- finally saw "Watchmen." LOVED IT. Didn't think I would, running so long and knowing nothing at all about it. But I love Zack Snyder's style. The soundtrack, Dr. Manhattan, RORSCHACH! (cried when he died. His tiny subtle facial expression of despair really took me by surprise) Thinking of coming up with a review if I can organize all my love coherently enough.

Yay! I'm glad you liked it. Jackie Earl Hayley really was a spectacular Rorschach.

But now that you've seen and enjoyed it, I'm afraid I must insist that you read the source material. No exceptions!
But really, I honestly believe that Watchmen is one of the most compelling and profound pieces of literature created in the last century. I did enjoy the movie a lot, but it still only managed to achieve a fraction of what the book did. I could ramble for hours about how much I love it and why. Also, there's lots more Rorschach!
The death scene is sad and great, but the one part of the book that ALWAYS makes me cry was kind of glossed over in the movie. Bleh.

My friend Jeffy has a copy, and I picked it up once or twice and tried to start it. But with a toddler running around and tons of London to see, obviously it wasn't a very conducive environment to give it proper attention.

Of course I'll read it eventually (once my Wii spending spree is over). It's hard to talk about graphic novels without hearing it mentioned by everyone. Until then I'll just enjoy it on Blu-ray!
